Cookie policy
Last updated 2 September 2026.
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to store. Some are needed to make a site work at all; others watch how the site is used so it can be improved. This page explains which ones this website sets and how to turn them off.
This policy sits alongside our privacy notice, which explains what we do with personal information more generally.
The short version
We do not use cookies to build a profile of you, and we do not sell anything about your visit to anybody. The only cookies that are not strictly necessary are the ones that count visits so we can see which pages are worth keeping — and those are only set if you agree to them.
Strictly necessary cookies
These make the site work and cannot be switched off. They do not need your consent, because without them the site would not function.
- Session and security cookies set by WordPress, the software this site runs on. They keep a form submission attached to the right visitor and protect forms against abuse.
- Your cookie choice. When you accept or reject the optional cookies, we have to remember which you chose — otherwise you would be asked on every page.
- Light or dark theme. If you switch the site between light and dark, that preference is stored in your own browser so the site looks the same next time. It never leaves your device and we cannot see it.
Analytics cookies — only with your permission
If you agree, we use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages people actually read. This tells us that a page is or is not doing its job. It does not tell us who you are.
These cookies are not set unless you accept them. If you reject them, none are set and nothing about your visit is recorded.
Cookies set by other people
Some things embedded in a page can set their own cookies:
Where these appear, they are covered by that provider's own cookie policy rather than ours.
Changing your mind
You can change your choice at any time:
- Use the cookie settings link in the footer of any page on this site.
- Or clear the cookies for this site in your browser, and you will be asked again on your next visit.
Rejecting the optional cookies does not restrict anything on this site. Every page, form and file works exactly the same either way.
Controlling cookies in your browser
Every modern browser lets you block or delete cookies for a particular site or for all sites. The instructions are under Settings, usually under Privacy. Blocking all cookies everywhere will break the sign-in on many websites, so it is generally better to control them per site.
You can also turn on "Do Not Track" or a global privacy signal in your browser. Where we receive one, we treat it as a refusal of the optional cookies.
