Independent drone surveys, run by a CAA-qualified pilot.

Midlands Aerial Surveys is run by James, a CAA-qualified drone pilot based in Stamford, Lincolnshire, carrying out survey and inspection flights across the UK since 2022.

The business exists to give homeowners, contractors and building professionals an accurate, independent view of the parts of a building that are hardest to check from the ground, without booking scaffolding or access equipment for a single inspection.

Reports in 2–3 working days

No scaffolding required

Why independence matters

I don’t carry out repair work myself, and I’m not tied to any roofing contractor, builder or maintenance company. That means what goes into a report is exactly what the drone sees.

Every flight starts with a permissions check. Thanks to our CAA operational authorisation, we’re typically cleared to fly without further approval, and we’ve never been turned down for permission to carry out a survey anywhere in the UK.

Reports are delivered within 2–3 working days, with high-resolution imagery and, where you need it, a written condition report you can pass straight to a contractor, insurer or surveyor.

Before any of this got off the ground, I spent years in construction, commercial building façade packages and civil engineering, both in the office and out on site. That’s not a throwaway line: it’s the reason I understand what a building surveyor, a main contractor or a land manager actually needs from a survey, rather than just handing over a folder of pretty pictures.

Add a background in video and photography, and you’ve got the two halves of what I do. The technical eye to know what matters, and the craft to capture it clearly. I launched as a commercial drone operator in 2020 to put the two together.
